Tooth Abscess also known as periapical abscess, tooth abscess, tooth infection, is a painful infection in the root of a tooth, or between the gum and tooth. It is caused by more serious tooth decay. Other causes of tooth abscess are trauma to the tooth, and when it breaks or chips, and gum disease or gingivitis.
These problems can cause openings in the tooth enamel, allowing bacteria to infect the center of the tooth (pulp of the call). The infection can also spread from the root of the tooth to the bones supporting the teeth. (more…)
